LA. New York. Miami. London. Paris. Ibiza. Amsterdam. Berlin. Rio De Janeiro. Johannesburg. Seoul. Tokyo. Melbourne. What’s the point Chris, you ask? This is a GLOBAL. SMASH. HIT. This song would light up any dance-floor worldwide. Amazing.
Not enough people have heard this charming Melodic House vibe released early this year.
I’ve already made it pretty clear what I think about this song. One of the best pop tracks of the year. Timing has a lot to do with that, as it’s a great change-of-pace for the fall season, and the Spanish vibe is sensational, as we’ve likewise experienced with “Despacito” this summer.
Here’s the long-awaited video for “Havana.”
Of the thousands of songs I’ve heard this year, this is one of the most uniquely different and mind-boggling of them all. Is it R&B? Indie? Pop? While I still want to hear more before I make any crazy proclamations of this debut artist’s potential, she’s definitely one to watch with this standout futuristic debut single.
I mentioned in the post right under this (on home page) that DJ Snake is a borderline Top 5 EDM/Pop producer. Well Kygo’s borderline Top 1, with only The Chainsmokers competing for that Top spot of EDM/Pop hitmakers in my view (though they are completely different styles— discussion for another day). Here he is doing what he does again, and while this one’s mellow and soothing, it still has enough of a beat for even the most rhythmic of us.
I’m a fan of DJ Snake. He’s a Top 10, borderline Top 5 EDM/Pop Producer in my opinion. So I was probably a bit more patient with this song than most would be. Not that it’s bad, it’s just that it’s one of those songs that you may need a second or third listen to like. I know that’s asking a lot in today’s game, but take a listen. Lauv’s a name to look out for.
His best/least corny hit.
